(Media-Newswire.com) - Three new rowing boats purchased through the Bligh Government’s Eat Well Be Active program were officially launched today by Thuringowa MP and Minister Assisting the Premier in North Queensland Craig Wallace.
Mr Wallace said the Riverway Rowing Club had received $30,000 in funding to purchase the three boats.
“The new boats will boost the club’s membership and also help the community to get active through rowing,” Mr Wallace said.
“Rowing is a wonderful way to enjoy the natural beauty of the Ross River and to get fit at the same time,” he said.
“We are all becoming more aware of the importance of regular exercise and rowing is a great way to be more active.”
Riverway Rowing Club also has received other funding from Eat Well Be Active to run fitball and circuit classes.
The Eat Well Be Active project promotes healthy living in schools and in the wider community by promoting a range of physical activities.
