(Media-Newswire.com) - According to a report by Boston radio station WBZ, over four million credit card numbers have been hacked by an anonymous assailant against the systems of two major U.S. grocery stores. The stores include Hannaford Bros. located in the Northeast U.S. and Sweetbay in Florida.
"Credit card security is one of the leading causes of consumer nervousness when shopping." said Frank Johnson of Business-Travel-Portal.com. From employees stealing credit card slips to lossses by hackers it has become nervewracking to hand over your credit card especially debit cards."
Reports indicate several thousand cases of fraud due to the hacker intrusion but this has not been immediately confirmed by anyone from either store. Both grocery chains are owned by a Belgian company Delhaize Group SA. The Hannaford chain has 165 stores in the Northeast while the Sweetbay operates 106 supermarkets in the state of Florida.
