Other Needs Assistance Program Available for Illinois Storm/Flood Victims
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency want to help Illinois residents who sustained damages and losses from the severe storms and flooding from June 1 to July 22 recover the costs of certain serious and necessary expenses related to that disaster.
(Media-Newswire.com) - SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency want to help Illinois residents who sustained damages and losses from the severe storms and flooding from June 1 to July 22 recover the costs of certain serious and necessary expenses related to that disaster.
Uninsured or under-insured residents of the 18 Illinois counties designated for federal and state individual assistance may be eligible to receive help from FEMA's Other Needs Assistance ( ONA ) program.
The ONA program may help individuals and families pay for necessary items and seriously needed services such as:
Medical and dental care Funeral costs ( as a result of the severe storms and flooding ) Transportation expenses to repair or replace your primary vehicle damaged by the disaster Household items and clothing School supplies Tools used for your job Equipment to help you get back into your damaged home Moving and storing personal property to avoid additional damage while disaster repairs are being made To apply for an ONA grant, it is necessary to register with FEMA by calling the toll-free registration/Helpline, 1-800-621-FEMA ( 3362 ) and completing the SBA loan application. If the SBA determines you can not afford to repay a loan, the recovery specialists will automatically refer you to the grant program. Hearing- or speech-impaired individuals with TTY equipment should call TTY 1-800-462-7585. The lines are open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. CDT
