Nearly 5,500 Cheshire Children to Take Part in "Sing The Christmas Story'
The last "Sing the Christmas Story' organised by Cheshire County Council's Music Team will involve nearly 5,500 children from 101 schools. There will be 22 events at 10 churches around Cheshire with infant, junior and primary schools singing six modern carols.
(Media-Newswire.com) - The last ‘Sing the Christmas Story’ organised by Cheshire County Council’s Music Team will involve nearly 5,500 children from 101 schools.
There will be 22 events at 10 churches around Cheshire with infant, junior and primary schools singing six modern carols.
The events will take place between December 2nd and December 16th.
‘Sing the Christmas Story’ will be narrated by retired Primary Music Advisor Maureen Richards who will be accompanied by former principal cornet player of The Leyland Band Andrew Lord, also on the cornet will be organiser David Lancashire who is manager of all the County Council Music Ensembles
They will be joined by Katrina Marzella, ex BBC Radio 2 Young Musician of The Year who will be playing the baritone, on the euphonium, Brenden Wheeler, ex BBC Radio 2 Young Musician of the Year and on piano Michael Williams, arranger and conductor of Ellesmere Port Music Society.
Katrina and Brenden are both members of the Leyland Band.
“This will be the last time that Cheshire County Council’s Music Team arranges this event” said Children’s Executive Member for Children’s Services David Rowlands.
“The hope must be that schools will encourage the new authorities to continue the event, which provides opportunities for so many children from a wide area.
“Sing The Christmas Story has been extremely popular and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the children, teachers, musicians and organisers for all their hard work in making this yearly event so successful.”
