Aerospace Camp registration opens March 2 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force
2/24/2009 - DAYTON, Ohio -- Registration for three exciting aerospace summer camps will open March 2 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Campers who have completed grades four through eight will be able to learn about a variety of topics through hands-on activities that incorporate history, science and math concepts, as well as team-building skills.
(Media-Newswire.com) - 2/24/2009 - DAYTON, Ohio -- Registration for three exciting aerospace summer camps will open March 2 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Campers who have completed grades four through eight will be able to learn about a variety of topics through hands-on activities that incorporate history, science and math concepts, as well as team-building skills.
The "Go for Launch!" aerospace camp will take place June 15-19 from 9 a.m. to noon for students who have finished grades 5-6. Campers who have previously had little or no experience building model rockets, airplanes or plastic kits of any kind, will have the opportunity to learn about the history and science of rocketry, and build and launch several model rockets. Cost is $70 per camper.
Students who have completed grades 6-8 may participate in the "Liftoff!" aerospace camp, June 22-26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This intermediate level model rocket camp is designed for students who have had some experience building model rockets, airplanes or plastic kits of any kind. The camp will provide them with an opportunity to learn about the history and science of rocketry and will also allow them to build and launch several model rockets. Cost is $80 per camper.
The "Into the Wild Blue Yonder!" aerospace camp will be held July 6-10 from 9 a.m. until noon for students who have finished grades 4-6. This is a beginning level aerospace camp and the program is designed for those with little or no background knowledge of the principles of flight. Campers will learn the basics about four different aspects of flight: airplanes, kites, hot air balloons and helicopters. Cost is $40 per camper.

The National Museum of the United States Air Force is located on Springfield Street, six miles northeast of downtown Dayton. It is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ( closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day ). Admission and parking are free.
