Three to be inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame
EAST LANSING, Mich. â€" Three new members will be inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame April 17 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at Michigan State University.
(Media-Newswire.com) - EAST LANSING, Mich. — Three new members will be inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame April 17 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at Michigan State University.
Inductees are award-winning broadcast journalist Bob Giles, nationally recognized photojournalist Linda Solomon and influential newspaper editor and publisher Ken Winter.
Known for the phrase “Get it first, but get it right,” Bob Giles has been winning awards for Detroit broadcast journalism for nearly 50 years. Capturing international acclaim and the essence of celebrated personalities, Linda Solomon has been committed to teaching others to express themselves through photography. Revered for his high standards for aggressive, yet compassionate, community news coverage, Ken Winter has garnered national and state awards for great journalism.
The Martha Rayne Award for Media Research History in Michigan also will be awarded at the banquet. Robin Blom, a Netherlands reporter and a doctoral student in the Media and Information Studies program at MSU, examined original newspapers on editorial battles in Michigan after the 1856 elections. His research is titled, “Yelling at the Enemy: Cortland Bliss Stebbins’ Effort to Defend the Bingham Administration against Democratic Criticism.”
Since 1985, the Hall of Fame has recognized Michigan reporters, editors, publishers, owners, photographers, broadcasters and educators throughout the state who have advanced the legacy of a free and responsible press and who have inspired others with their lasting contributions to Michigan journalism.

The MSU School of Journalism has been the home of the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame since 1985, reprising the Michigan Newspaper Hall of Fame, which had been dormant since 1968.
