(Media-Newswire.com) - Several athletes recently accepted scholarships to play for the North Idaho College men’s basketball team for the 2011-2012 season.
Antoine Hosley, a 6-foot-1-inch guard from Portland, Ore., is transferring from the University of Washington where he played in 14 games last season. He led Jefferson High School to its third consecutive Oregon State Championship in 2010.
Josh Turner, a 6-foot-5-inch guard from Auburndale, Fla., was rated by ESPN.com as a top 100 player in the nation for his position. He averaged 28.5 points per game for Auburndale High School last season.
Keon Lewis, a 6-foot-2-inch guard from Seattle, Wash., led Chief Sealth High School to the 2011 3A state tournament while averaging 19.5 points per game. Chief Sealth is the same high school former NIC standout Melvin Jones attended.
Michael Middlebrooks, a 6-foot-8-inch forward from Seattle, Wash., was rated the No. 4 post in the State of Washington by Northwesthoops.com. He averaged 11.4 points per game for 3A powerhouse Rainier Beach High School last season.
Cole Luckett, a 6-foot-3-inch wing from Auburn, Wash., led Auburn-Riverside High School in scoring with 18.5 points per game last season. His father, Kenneth Luckett, is a former University of Idaho Vandal basketball player.
Ryan Neve, a 6-foot-2-inch guard from Sandy, Utah had originally committed to play at the University of Rochester out of high school, but went on a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints mission instead. He will play for North Idaho College next season.
NIC Cardinal men’s basketball players that will not be returning include Michael Hale, who signed with the University of Texas—San Antonio; Tyrone White, who signed with NCAA Division 1 school California State University—Bakersfield; Abebe Demissie, who signed with NCAA Division 2 school the University of Alaska—Anchorage; Nick Fromm, who will play for Lewis-Clark State College next season; and DeAndre Taylor, who signed with Evergreen State College.
