Confio IgniteVM Helps Indiana University Simplify its Database Management

By implementing Ignite, IU was able to unite its performance management, including database, VM and physical host indicators, in one comprehensive, single-pane view, giving the University the ability to safely share performance information across DBAs, developers, and system administrators.
IU recognized the benefits of running its hundreds of enterprise class databases on VMware early on, and today the University has more than 2,000 total virtual machines. However, prior to Ignite, the database team had little visibility into VMware changes, such as Vmotion and server resizing events, which could potentially impact database applications. Now, IU has a solution that allows DBAs to see the root causes of problems directly, without having to engage virtualization administrators to capture raw data.
