New York City Housing Authority and New Yorkers for Parks To Plant Daffodils in Public Housing Green Spaces
For the first time, New Yorkers 4 Parks is teaming up with the New York City Housing Authority to plant daffodils at NYCHA properties in every borough starting in Manhattan this week. Public housing residents of Clinton Houses and the neighboring East Harlem community kick-off the Daffodil Project planting on October 25, 2012. The Daffodil Project was founded in 2001 as a living memorial to September 11.
(Media-Newswire.com) - For the first time, New Yorkers 4 Parks is teaming up with the New York City Housing Authority to plant daffodils at NYCHA properties in every borough starting in Manhattan this week. Public housing residents of Clinton Houses and the neighboring East Harlem community kick-off the Daffodil Project planting on October 25, 2012. The Daffodil Project was founded in 2001 as a living memorial to September 11.
With nearly five million free bulbs planted citywide by more than 40,000 school kids, parks and gardening groups, civic organizations, corporate volunteers and other New Yorkers, it is one of the largest volunteer efforts in the city’s history. Today, the initiative remains a powerful memorial but also has become a symbol of civic pride and community unity. Its spirit is defined by the thousands of New Yorkers who join together to make their neighborhoods and their city a more beautiful place to live.
