According to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities for court reporters will continue to grow by 9 to 25 percent by 2016. Full-time salaries average over $60,000 a year.
Oakland Community College’s Royal Oak Campus will present a Court Reporting Information Session Thursday, November 29 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in Room A110. Find out what court reporters do, meet the instructors, experience what “real time” reporting is all about and learn about the variety of career options.
You must pre-register for the session by calling 248.246.2632. There is no charge to attend.
If you have strong language skills, are an “audio” learner, comfortable with technology, have good manual dexterity and have an interest in running your own business, court reporting may be the field for you. An associate degree can be attained in two or three years at OCC.
The Royal Oak Campus is located at 739 South Washington at Lincoln in downtown Royal Oak. Free parking is available in college parking structures located opposite the campus.
Fall classes begin on Monday, January 7.
