(Media-Newswire.com) - Megan Johnson, a MAT graduate student at Missouri State University, won a cash prize of $500 for her charcoal drawing, “Sinker” during the selection process for the Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas ( MOAK ) four-state regional exhibition 2012.
Johnson, who holds an art and design degree from MSU, was one of 215 artists at the evaluation. The juror, Kevin Murphy, curator of American art at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark., evaluated the 408 pieces initially entered, selecting only 79 pieces to be displayed at the exhibit. “Sinker,” along with the 78 other pieces selected, will be on display at the MOAK exhibition at the Springfield Art Museum from Nov. 17, 2012-Jan. 13, 2013.
Since the MOAK four-state regional exhibition began in 1990, it has developed into a premier exhibit aimed to recognize and encourage regional artists of diverse abilities.
