Area residents interested in Seminole/Creek Language I & II, iPad/iPhone/iPod, Zumba, Government, Introduction to Communications, Sociology or English Comp I will have the opportunity to take short classes through Seminole State College's Business and Industry Training Program beginning Thursday, Jan. 10.
(Media-Newswire.com) - Area residents interested in Seminole/Creek Language I & II, iPad/iPhone/iPod, Zumba, Government, Introduction to Communications, Sociology or English Comp I will have the opportunity to take short classes through Seminole State College’s Business and Industry Training Program beginning Thursday, Jan. 10.
“Seminole/Creek Language” will meet in the Haney Center, Room 104 and will be taught by Kevin Roberts-Fields. Students will learn how to be able to recognize and correctly pronounce the 19 character alphabet, understand basic sentence structure and speak well enough to greet and take leave in fluent native language. The “Seminole/Creek Language I” class meets Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. starting Jan. 10 and concluding May 9. The cost is $494 and includes material.
“Intermediate Seminole/Creek Language” meets Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. starting Jan. 10 and concluding May 9. The cost is $605 and includes material.
“Getting Started with iPad/iPhone.iPod” will meet in the Haney Center, Room 117 and will be taught by Kristi Bailey. The hands-on class will instruct students on learning their electronic devises and how to download, create and rename folders, touch tricks, parental controls and free apps. The class meets for six sessions on Monday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. starting Jan. 14 and continuing through March 4. The cost is $111.
“Zumba” will meet in the Haney Center Bay and will be taught by Trilbya Stripling-Anderson. The class takes the “work” out of workout and has easy-to-follow moves that are fun and effective. The class is designed for all fitness levels. The class meets for eight sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. starting Jan. 14 and continuing through March 16. The class will not meet on Jan. 21 and Feb. 18. The cost is $59.
“American National Government,” “Introduction to Communications,” “Introduction to Sociology,” and “Principals of English Composition I” are being offered as weekend accelerated courses. The classes meet for five Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. starting Jan. 12 through Feb. 9. The cost of each class is $383 and includes all materials. “American National Government” will meet in the Haney Center, Room 102 and will be taught by Robert Clark.
“Introduction to Communications” will meet in Colclazier Tech Building, Room 108 and will be taught by Don Pilgrim.
“Introduction to Sociology” will meet in the Haney Center, Room 115 and will be taught by William Copeland.
“Principals of English Composition I” will meet in the Colclazier Tech Building, Room 106.

Special holiday enrollment hours for the SSC Office of Admissions, Business Office are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2 through Thursday, Jan. 3; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7 through Thursday, Jan,. 10; and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11. The College will be closed Wednesday Dec. 19 through Jan. 1.
