Additional work on the Tappan Zee Bridge deck replacement project will continue December 31 through January 4, the New York State Thruway Authority announced today.
(Media-Newswire.com) - Additional work on the Tappan Zee Bridge deck replacement project will continue December 31 through January 4, the New York State Thruway Authority announced today. However, there will not be any nighttime work on the bridge during this period.
In case of inclement weather, the work may be postponed. Updates will be issued to announce any change in schedule.
Monday, December 31
No nighttime lane closures scheduled.
During the day time hours, the contractor will be working underneath the bridge. Work is below the road level, not visible to traveling patrons.
Tuesday, January 1
No work scheduled.
Wednesday, January 2 through Friday, January 4
No nighttime lane closures scheduled.
During the day time hours, the contractor will be working within Tappan Zee Bridge maintenance’s lane closures and/or underneath the bridge.
Saturday, January 5 and Sunday, January 6
No work scheduled.
For the safety of the public and construction workers, motorists are urged to proceed with caution and obey posted work-zone speed limits.
The deck replacement is complete, but additional work will continue in the coming months.
Traffic updates will be broadcast to motorists via Variable Message Signs along the highway and by Highway Advisory Radio 530 AM in the Tappan Zee Bridge corridor, as well as 1610 AM in the Newburgh area.
