The Queensland Government has today offered any assistance Tasmania may require during or after the bushfire emergency.
(Media-Newswire.com) - The Queensland Government has today offered any assistance Tasmania may require during or after the bushfire emergency.
Premier Campbell Newman spoke with Tasmania’s Acting Premier Bryan Green this morning to express concerns over the bushfire situation and offer assistance.
Queensland’s expertise in reconstruction after flood and cyclone disasters is a potential area of assistance.
Acting Premier Jeff Seeney said Queensland was prepared to offer any assistance sought by Tasmania.
“We want to express our sympathy and support for the people of Tasmania who have lost their homes and possessions.
“We share the anxiety and concern of Tasmanians at this time with the bushfire threat still current.”
Mr Seeney said Queensland fire crews could be dispatched immediately if needed.
Additionally Queensland is providing planning support to the NSW State Emergency Service with that state facing a possible fire emergency from tomorrow.
