(Media-Newswire.com) - New-music pianist Jeri-Mae Astolfi will perform a free program of works for solo piano and electronic sounds at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, in Illinois State University’s Kemp Recital Hall. Astolfi’s performance is part of the School of Music’s Guest Artist Recital Series.
Astolfi will perform works from her upcoming CD Here ( and there ), a collection of compositions that feature the piano combined with expressive electronic sounds. Her concert program will include green is passing by Jeff Herriott; Confetti Variations by Tom Lopez; Phillip Schroeder’s Crystal Springs; Brian Belet’s Summer Phantoms: Nocturne; Jim Fox’s The Pleasure of Being Lost; and Swirling Sky by Ed Martin.
Astolfi’s repertoire, ranging from the Renaissance era through the present, clearly affirms her keen interest in new music, which has led her to commission and premiere many new solo and collaborative works. She is currently a member of the music faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
