(Media-Newswire.com) - MERRILLVILLE, Ind. - Medical professionals, health-care practitioners and the public are invited to a free seminar and online webinar Jan. 16 on the history and future of breast cancer diagnostics, hosted by a company in the Purdue Research Park of Northwest Indiana.
Dr. Anthony Magliocco, chair of the anatomic pathology department at the Tampa, Fla.-based Moffitt Cancer Center, and Dr. Elizabeth Hammond, professor of pathology and adjunct professor of internal medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine, will present "Breast Cancer Diagnostics: Present and Future Best Practices" from 11 a.m. to noon CST.
IVDiagnostics LLC is coordinating the live seminar at the Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana, 9800 Connecticut Dr., Crown Point, Ind. The webinar will be broadcast online at http://www.captodayonline.com/011613webinar
Tom Szczepanski, director of marketing and support systems at IVDiagnostics, said "Breast Cancer Diagnostics: Present and Future Best Practices" is the first in a series of seminars with topics ranging from family health and cancer awareness to molecular medicine that will be held over the next six months at college campuses in Northwest Indiana, including Purdue University Calumet, Valparaiso University, Indiana University Northwest and Purdue University North Central.
"Molecular level diagnostics are important for earlier detection and remediation of metastatic disease," he said. "Clinicians who can determine what is happening inside the body before a solid tumor appears will be able to prescribe molecular level therapy and thus save more lives. This will lead to personalized medicine."
The seminar is open to the public, but space is limited. To reserve a seat, contact Lynette Cieslak at 219-644-3680, email@example.com
