The Miss America contestants compete for scholarships and must meet requirements for, among other things, character and ability to express a well-informed advocacy of a "platform issue," a cause for social and/or individual improvement.
Voting closes at 2:59 a.m. EST on Jan. 11 ( 11:59 p.m. PST on Jan. 10 ). There is a limit of one vote per person and Internet-accessible device per contestant, regardless of method of voting. Two methods of voting are available:
The finals of the 2013 Miss America Competition will be broadcast live at 9 p.m. EST. on Jan. 12 on ABC from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
