(Media-Newswire.com) - DULUTH, MN — The Second Annual UMD Civil Engineering Career Fair will be held January 28 and 29.
The information session will be held January 28 from 5-7 pm in rooms 231 and 265 of the Swenson Civil Engineering Building. Employers will give a general overview of their businesses. Companies dealing with civil engineering design including environmental, geotechnical, land development, structural, transportation and water resources are expected to attend.
The career fair is January 29 from 8:30 am -1 pm in the Swenson Civil Engineering Building High Bay Lab. The event provides the civil engineering design and related construction community the opportunity to meet students for career employment, summer internships, and co-op opportunities.
Penelope Morton, interim head for UMD's Department of Civil Engineering Department said, "Most of our undergraduates complete an internship where they gain real-world experience working with practicing engineers. Companies are able to network with students as well as display their projects and increase awareness about the profession."
Last year 14 companies participated and it is expected the number will increase this year.
