SBDC Clients Inject $103 Million into Wisconsin's Economy
Madison, Wis. â€" Business owners and entrepreneurs working with Wisconsin Small Business Development Center consultants injected more than $103 million in capital into Wisconsin’s economy in 2013.
(Media-Newswire.com) - Madison, Wis. — Business owners and entrepreneurs working with Wisconsin Small Business Development Center consultants injected more than $103 million in capital into Wisconsin’s economy in 2013. The funds came through U.S. Small Business Administration ( SBA ) guaranteed loans, conventional loans, community development funds and private investments.
Jim Mishefske, Wisconsin SBDC state director, said, “Many of our clients want to grow their businesses, get into new markets and increase revenues. They need capital to do so. We help them prepare to seek funding with pro forma financial statements and guide them through the application process.”
In 2013, the Wisconsin SBDC provided no-cost, confidential consulting to 2,412 clients including 1,427 minority and woman entrepreneurs and 214 veterans. Serving businesses at every stage, SBDC consultants located at University of Wisconsin campuses statewide, work with clients to develop customized solutions.
Clients sought help with, for example, identifying new market opportunities, improving business performance, marketing products and services and planning for business launch or transition. Through access to university resources and regional expertise, clients get the knowledge, tools and connections they need.
