New part-time courses: enrollment starts for next spring
From fashion to food & drink, and from horticulture to history, enrolment for a new programme of part-time courses at the University of Bath starts today.
(Media-Newswire.com) - Brand new courses in a range of subjects feature on the extensive programme. They are offered in a flexible range of dayschools, weekend and weekly courses that run over four to ten weeks.
Courses are held at the University’s Claverton campus and its city centre location at Carpenter House, starting from February 2007.
New weekly courses include: Eat your Garden, setting new vegetable growers on the path to success; Forensic psychology focusing on the contribution of psychological theory, research and practice to the understanding of crime; Earth Observation: the Science behind GoogleEarth introducing students to the techniques of making digital observation images of the Earth’s surface from space.
New weekend and day schools include: Willow workshops, giving people the chance to weave a basket or make a sculpture for the garden or home; Travel writing giving aspiring writers a taste of the art and craft of writing travel articles and insider tips on how to get pieces published; The last days of Pompeii describing the eruption of Vesuvius and the re-discovery and excavation of buildings, art and artefacts from the Roman period.
“We’re really pleased to be offering people such an interesting and varied programme for next spring,” said Marie Salter, Programme Manager at the University’s Centre for Lifelong Learning.
“Feedback tells us that people really appreciate the quality of teaching, experience and enthusiasm of the course tutors. It’s one of the main reasons why people enrol year after year.”

The Lifelong Learning Programme is now in its twelfth year and attracts students of all ages from Bath and the surrounding area.
