Talk Focuses on African Americans' Struggle with HIV/AIDS
A free workshop designed to introduce methods for fostering greater collaboration between the black community and health care professionals in dealing with HIV/AIDS will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
(Media-Newswire.com) - A free workshop designed to introduce methods for fostering greater collaboration between the black community and health care professionals in dealing with HIV/AIDS will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
The workshop features Gil L. Robertson IV, author of the book “Not in My Family,” which chronicles the African American community struggle with issues of HIV/AIDS. This National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day event is sponsored by URMC’s HIV Vaccine Trials Unit, the School of Nursing, and the Center for Community Health.
Health care professionals, University employees and the general public are invited. A reception will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the School of Nursing’s Loretta C. Ford Auditorium in Helen Wood Hall, 255 Crittenden Blvd. The workshop will start at 5 p.m.
