Frostburg State University is offering the public an opportunity to learn more about financial planning through a course called "FPCP I: Introduction to Financial Planning."
Registration is now open and available on a first-come, first-served basis for the course, which will be held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning April 12 and ending June 7. Program structure is flexible and allows students to take five of the six required courses in any order, with Estate Planning as the final course. FPCP ( Financial Planning Certificate Program ) invites all working professionals in insurance, banking, investments, accounting, law and other finance-based businesses, current students in business, accounting and economics and individuals interested in switching careers to consider enrolling in the program. Financial planning is a rapidly growing field that serves the needs of all income groups.
FPCP is a noncredit program that can be completed in about 18 months. The program is being offered at the Frostburg main campus as well as the University System of Maryland Center at Hagerstown using Distance Education ( interactive video ) technology. Required courses are offered on a rotating basis in four eight-week terms, annually. Courses are taught at the junior or senior undergraduate level, and the pace of each course is intensive. Completion of Frostburg’s CFP Board-registered FPCP will fulfill the educational requirements and enable students to sit for the CFP ® Examination.
