NIC student earns first place at state competition

(Media-Newswire.com) - North Idaho College Collision Repair Technology Student Ray Hinshaw, from Priest River, earned first place at the annual Idaho Skills USA state competition in Boise April 12-13.
Hinshaw competed among 30 other college contestants in hands-on categories, including small dent repair, refinishing, estimating, structural analysis and welding. Participants were also judged on their performance on a written test, interview and resume.
Hinshaw’s gold medal qualifies him for the National Skills USA competition in Kansas City, Mo., June 23-27. His first place finish also earned him a $500 scholarship towards travel costs for nationals and more than $2,500 in tools.
Other NIC participants included Nick Inman from Coeur d’Alene, Adrianne Sielaff from Rathdrum and Andy Rogge from Helena, Mont.
Collision Repair Technology is a 10-month professional-technical program at NIC.
