A diverse photographer and artist whose works have been shown nationally will present a guest lecture Thursday, Nov. 13, at West Virginia University. Peter HappelChristian’s talk â€" which is free and open to the public â€" will begin at 5 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (200A) of the Creative Arts Center.
(Media-Newswire.com) - A diverse photographer and artist whose works have been shown nationally will present a guest lecture Thursday, Nov. 13, at West Virginia University.
Peter HappelChristian’s talk – which is free and open to the public – will begin at 5 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall ( 200A ) of the Creative Arts Center.
HappelChristian likens his work to that of an early cartographer – looking, measuring, collecting, calculating and displaying the intersections of everyday life and the natural world.
His work – which includes photographs, artist books, installations and works on paper – has been on display at the University of Arizona’s Museum of Art; Dinnerware Contemporary Arts in Phoenix; Metroform Gallery in Tucson, Ariz.; and the Tucson Museum of Art.
HappelChristian is an assistant professor of photography at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. He has also taught at the University of Oregon, Pima Community College in Tucson, the Tucson Museum of Art School and the University of Arizona.
His work is in the permanent collection of the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, and he is an active member of the Society for Photographic Education.
Originally from Iowa, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in photography from the University of Iowa in 1999 and a Master of Fine Arts degree in photography from the University of Oregon in 2003.
