(Media-Newswire.com) - An Integrated Transport Management Plan, which will look at traffic, parking and cycling issues in the Ormskirk area, and a report on the future of adult social care are just two of the items that will be discussed at the next meeting of Lancashire Local West Lancashire on Wednesday 21 January.
Lancashire locals are an initiative to delegate powers from Lancashire County Council and district councils to local decision-making committees to ensure that changes to services are made in the best interests of individual communities.
Residents are welcome to attend and have the chance to speak on agenda items.
County Councillor David O’Toole, Chairman of Lancashire Local West Lancashire, said: “The Lancashire Locals enable councillors who represent and know the area to make important decisions at a local level. Residents are welcome to attend and see local democracy in action.”
The committee’s powers include budget and priority setting for highways, road safety schemes, waste services, library and museum opening hours, youth and community services and issuing local grants.
The Lancashire Local West Lancashire committee is formed by equal numbers of councillors from Lancashire County Council and West Lancashire District Council.
The meeting will take place at West Lancashire District Council Offices, Derby Street, Ormskirk at 7.00pm.
Copies of the agenda are available at www.lancashire.gov.uk . They will also be available on the night. Copies can also be viewed at local libraries, district council offices and County Information Centres
