(Media-Newswire.com) - Dr Momna Hejmadi will explore some of the non-conventional patterns of behaviour and link them to how the brain works in a lecture at the University of Bath next Wednesday 11 March.
The lecture will offer an insight into understanding the physical reasons for so-called 'just madness' and show how the mind influences the body.
Dr Hejmadi is an academic in the Department of Biology & Biochemistry at the University of Bath, whose research interests focus on neurodegeneration – the progressive loss of structure or function of neurons. She lectures widely in the UK and overseas on popularising neurosciences, especially among the general public and in schools.
She said: “Can you taste shapes or read in colour? This lecture will provide a glimpse into the extraordinary working of the human brain and how it controls the body. It will draw on unusual case histories to explore brain wiring.”
Dr Hejmadi’s lecture is part of the General University Lecture Programme.
Other lectures in the series include Spirit Country, Richard Jefferies, 18 March and Einstein’s 1905 Revolution in Physics, Dr Peter Ford MBE and Dr Vincent Smith MBE, 25 March.
All lectures are free and open to the public and start at 5:15pm at the Lecture Theatre 8 West 1.1
Admission and parking is free in the west car park at the Claverton Campus.
