(Media-Newswire.com) - The Bath Institute for Rheumatic Diseases ( BIRD ) is hosting its first annual Psoriatic Arthritis information day on Friday ( 15 May ).
The free information day is being held at the institute, which is affiliated to the University of Bath, from 10am until 3pm.
The event is aimed at patients with Psoriatic Arthritis and those that have an interest in the condition, such as their family and friends.
Included in the day will be talks from experts such as Professor Neil McHugh, who will be speaking about getting a diagnosis of Psoriatic Arthritis, and Dr Ellie Korendowych who will be discussing family history of the condition.
There will also be sessions on managing fatigue; patient education; internet resources and opportunities to ask questions and participate in discussions.
Teas, coffees and lunch will be provided and there will be a chance to talk to specialists on Psoriatic Arthritis and meet other patients.
Professor Neil McHugh said: “Psoriasis is a relatively common skin disease that is often accompanied with progressive arthritis, fortunately more affective treatments are becoming available. This information day will allow our patients to learn more about their condition, the research that is being conducted and ways of managing their symptoms.”
A patient who attended a previous information day added: “I think that it’s a terrific opportunity for a patient such as myself to learn more about my condition. It is a very useful way to pick up information regarding recent developments.”
The event is taking place at the Bath Institute for Rheumatic Diseases, Upper Borough Walls, Bath. This is the first of three condition-specific annual information days to be held this year.
