The collaborative NetLogic Microsystems and Cavium Reference Design Platforms are targeted at high-performance networking, communications, and wireless equipment. The joint platforms offer significant power, performance and time-to-market advantages for equipment vendors developing next-generation edge and core routers, intelligent switches, multi-service access equipment, 3G wireless infrastructure equipment, Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) systems and session border gateways.
(Media-Newswire.com) - Mountain View, Calif. – May 19, 2009 –NetLogic Microsystems, Inc. [NASDAQ: NETL], the leader in the design and development of knowledge-based processors and high-speed integrated circuits, today announced that it will be exhibiting two reference platforms demonstrating support for Layers 2-4 packet processing and Layer 7 content inspection using Cavium Networks’ [NASDAQ: CAVM] OCTEON™ Multi-core MIPS64® Processor Family at the Interop Conference 2009, in Las Vegas, Nevada from May 19-21, 2009.
The collaborative NetLogic Microsystems and Cavium Reference Design Platforms are targeted at high-performance networking, communications, and wireless equipment. The joint platforms offer significant power, performance and time-to-market advantages for equipment vendors developing next-generation edge and core routers, intelligent switches, multi-service access equipment, 3G wireless infrastructure equipment, Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture ( ATCA ) systems and session border gateways.
The collaborative platforms enable network and application awareness by demonstrating high-performance packet/content inspection, flow classification, access control list ( ACL ) security, Internet Protocol version 6 ( IPv6 ) routing and quality of service ( QoS ) processing with standard operating system, GNU tool chain, and C/C++ support. The joint platforms are intended to speed customer system development resulting in significantly reduced time to market and reduced system development costs.
“The collaboration between NetLogic Microsystems and Cavium Networks ensures product interoperability and enables our mutual customers to develop high-performance and flexible advanced networking and telecommunications systems,” said Rajiv Khemani, vice president and general manager, Networking & Communications Division at Cavium Networks. “The flexible nature of this combined architecture is important as it enables customers to develop a hardware and software platform with an extended life-cycle.”
“Our collaboration with Cavium has fostered compelling solutions that enrich the next generation network equipment,” said Chris O’Reilly, vice president of marketing at NetLogic Microsystems. “These reference platforms enable design wins at tier-one networking customers looking to employ OCTEON processors and NetLogic Microsystems’ knowledge-based processors to accelerate design development and time to market.”
Both reference designs incorporating Cavium’s OCTEON processors and NetLogic Microsystems’ knowledge-based processors will be on exhibit at Interop 2009 in Booth #1943.
