(Media-Newswire.com) - The wireless industry is gathering in the South West for the third year of the Wireless2.0 conference to examine the future trends in innovation in the industry.
The conference on 3 July has been organised by the University of Bath, and brings together senior executives of global companies with academics from UK universities working within the wireless cluster in the South West of England.
Speakers at the conference include:
Professor Michael Walker, Group Research & Development Director for Vodafone Gurprit Singh, Director of Emerging Technology for Microsoft Ben Timmons, Director of Business Development for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies Nigel Toon, Chief Executive of picoChip Malcolm Gordon, Chief Operating Officer of IPWireless Dr Rob Watson, University of Bath Sessions will cover the latest trends in smart connected devices, the prospects for the next generation LTE ( long term evolution ) cellular technology, applications and developments in mobile TV and how to tackle the high power consumption of wireless networks.

The South West region, centred on Bristol, Bath and Swindon, is home to leading wireless companies such as picoChip, Icera, IPWireless, and Mirifice as part of the largest cluster of chip designers in Europe.
“The South West has a strong market presence in the wireless technology sector,” said Graham Harrison, Head of Sector Development at the South West RDA ( Regional Development Agency ) which is one of the conference sponsors.

The conference will also be honouring the Rising Stars of the region’s universities, awarding prizes to the most talented electronics engineers at an awards dinner. The awards will be presented by Professor Joe McGeehan, Managing Director of Toshiba’s Telecoms Research Laboratory, based in Bristol.
The conference is taking place in the Rosalind Franklin Room, @Bristol, Anchor Road, Harbourside, Bristol.
