Open Access is the principle that all research should be freely accessible online, immediately after publication. Proponents say it encourages the unrestricted sharing of research results with everyone, everywhere, for the advancement and enjoyment of science and society. For more information on Open Access Week, see http://www.openaccessweek.org.
Co-sponsors of the Oct. 20 talk include: the Department of Communication Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Graduate Student Senate; the UI Center for Human Rights in International Programs; the Executive Council of Graduate and Professional Students; and Widernet, in the School of Library and Information Science, and the Project on the Rhetoric of Inquiry ( POROI ), both in the Graduate College.
