PARAGUAY TELLS SECRETARY GENERAL OF ITS CONCERNS OVER "ARMS RACE TENDENCY" IN THE CONTINENT
In his first official act, the new Permanent Representative of Paraguay to the Organization of American States (OAS), Ambassador Hugo Saguier, formally handed OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza a letter from the Paraguayan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hector Lacognata, stating Paraguay's concerns over "the arms race tendency that is taking place in the continent".
(Media-Newswire.com) - In his first official act, the new Permanent Representative of Paraguay to the Organization of American States ( OAS ), Ambassador Hugo Saguier, formally handed OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza a letter from the Paraguayan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Héctor Lacognata, stating Paraguay’s concerns over “the arms race tendency that is taking place in the continent”. After receiving the missive, Insulza took note of the statement of the Government of President Fernando Lugo and committed himself to study the possibility of presenting the issue to the OAS Permanent Council, an entity conformed by the representatives of the 33 member states.
