(Media-Newswire.com) - WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University’s Manufacturing Extension Program will host a Six Sigma White Belt certificate workshop in Indianapolis Dec. 4 following the International Motorsports Industry Show. The event will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Indiana Convention Center. The fee is $100 per person, and registration is required. To register, visit http://www.imis-indy.com/page/55/Conferences
Workshop topics will include training in the Six Sigma philosophy, objectives, benefits and the implementation process. Six Sigma is a business management strategy that seeks to identify and eliminate "defects" and variability in manufacturing and service-related processes. It utilizes data and statistical analysis to measure and improve a company's operational performance.
Tom Carroll, director of Purdue's Indianapolis Office of Engagement and board member of the International Motorsports Association, said, "We are pleased to offer a Six Sigma White Belt presentation in connection with the show. We feel like this workshop has a lot to offer IMA members and the racing industry. We look forward to maintaining a strong relationship between IMA and Purdue in the future."
Participants who complete the workshop can become qualified members of Six Sigma green belt or yellow belt project teams. They also are eligible for additional training to become a green belt or black belt. A green belt is a Six Sigma-trained professional whose duties include leading projects and teams in implementing Six Sigma methodology at the project level. The Six Sigma Black Belt is a professional who can explain Six Sigma philosophies and principles, demonstrate team leadership and assign team member roles and responsibilities.
The Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center provides technical skills development and implementation services to manufacturers who want to increase productivity and profitability, enhance customer satisfaction and advance work-force skills. Areas of expertise include advanced manufacturing processes, lean implementation, quality management systems, Six Sigma, green enterprise development and energy efficiency.
