Royal Recognition for Raising Standards in Teaching
Bath Spa University lecturer Stephen Miles will be joining HRH The Prince of Wales at Clarence House on Monday 23 November for the launch of a new award marking teaching excellence in schools.
(Media-Newswire.com) - Bath Spa University lecturer Stephen Miles will be joining HRH The Prince of Wales at Clarence House on Monday 23 November for the launch of a new award marking teaching excellence in schools.
Stephen, who is Senior Lecturer in English Initial Teacher Education at Bath Spa University's School of Education, is Programme Director of the Schools Programme, a national project recognising and rewarding the development of inspirational ideas and activities that enhance the teaching of English, History and Science. The Programme, which is open to all state secondary schools in England, was announced in November 2007.
73 school departments from 51 schools will be awarded the Prince's Teaching Institute's first Schools Programme Mark. During the day Stephen will address the invited head teachers about the benefits and value of the Schools Programme, consider the successes of the first cohort of schools, and lead discussion groups on future developments. HRH The Prince of Wales will listen to presentations from three of the successful schools ( from London and Cumbria ).
