Michelle Rhee, D.C. schools chancellor, to keynote annual ‘21 Dinner’ that honors George Boiardi on Jan. 30

" Michelle Rhee, chancellor of the public schools in Washington, D.C., and a Cornell alumna, will be the keynote speaker at the fifth annual “21 Dinner” to be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 " an event that honors the late George Boiardi. Rhee " a former Teach for America teacher " will speak on service, leadership, education and giving back to society.
(Media-Newswire.com) - ITHACA, N.Y. – Michelle Rhee, chancellor of the public schools in Washington, D.C., and a Cornell alumna, will be the keynote speaker at the fifth annual “21 Dinner” to be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 – an event that honors the late George Boiardi. Rhee – a former Teach for America teacher – will speak on service, leadership, education and giving back to society.
Jeremy Schaap, an ESPN reporter and a Cornell alumnus, will serve as the master of ceremonies for the evening.
The event will be held at Bridgewaters, 11 Fulton St., New York City, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets for the benefit start at $185 each and can be obtained online at: www.boiardifoundation.org.
Proceeds will benefit The Mario St. George Boiardi Foundation, which has a mission to empower the next generation through athletics and academics. The Mario St. George Boiardi Foundation is a registered New York state nonprofit and a federal 501c-3 entity. NYS Tax ID #: 26-1141871.
Boiardi proudly wore the number 21 as a captain of the Cornell Lacrosse team. He was an accomplished student, athlete, and campus leader who was committed to joining Teach For America’s South Dakota corps. He died tragically after being struck in the chest by a lacrosse ball toward the end of a varsity game on March 17, 2004 at Schoellkopf Field.
