GM Offers Pontiac and Saturn Cars to Dealers at Huge Discount

(Media-Newswire.com) - GM is trying to unload Pontiac and Saturn cars from existing inventories and has sent a letter to dealers offering $7000 per vehicle sold. These cars will be sold to dealerships first and then be labeled as used when sold to customers.
The deals refer only to Pontiac and Saturn cars and the $7000 is to the dealer, and not necessarily automatic to be passed on to the customer. The move is being made reportedly to raise the December sales figures for GM.
The cars will actually be sold from GM to the individual dealers who will get the actual discount. Once the vehicle is received, the car must be sold as a used vehicle even if it has no miles on it as it was already sold to the dealership. This is unlike other vehicles where the customer is the first owner.
Dealerships have the ability to discount the sticker prices up to $7000 but do not have to according to media reports.
GM shut down production of the Pontiac and Saturn brands earlier this year as part of the restructuring and bailout by the U.S. Government.
