TNA Wrestling's "Momentous Night" Includes Thrilling Tag Team Championship
In a night that was described as "momentous" in the history of Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling, the Knockouts Women's Tag Team championship changed hands on January 4, 2010.
(Media-Newswire.com) - With new TNA signee and legend Hulk Hogan in attendance, Awesome Kong and Hamada defeated Sarita and Taylor Wilde in a match that thrilled and brought to its feet the live audience, not to mention the millions watching live on Spike TV.
Kong, who brings strength to the team, and Hamada, who brings speed and expertise, proved too much for Sarita and Wilde.
The match was part of a live, three-hour television event that pitted unwavering TNA head-to-head against WWE Raw.
Kong, filled with emotion and determination, overcame some trouble early in the match, in which she found herself outside the ring briefly. The back-and-forth action drew a fantastic reaction from the crowd-something TNA constantly brings to the table.
Industry observers agreed that the night was huge for TNA as it continues to gain market share and interest from the serious professional wrestling fan. It was also a big night for Kong, who added the Tag Strap to her title lineage as she previously has held the Knockouts Singles Title.
As Hogan looked on, Awesome Kong and Hamada engaged in a furious battle with Sarita and Taylor Wilde with the Knockouts Tag Team Title squarely on the line.
This remarkable team ended matters by Kong hoisting Sarita in the air for Hamada to drop kick her from the top rope as Kong simultaneously drove Sarita down to the mat with her finishing move called the "Awesome Bomb" to grab the win and the Tag Championship.
