(Media-Newswire.com) - BRADY – Jacquelyn "Jacque" Frerich Behrens is the new Texas AgriLife Extension Service agent for family and consumer sciences in McCulloch County. Her Jan. 1 appointment was made by McCulloch County Judge Danny Neal and Scott Durham, AgriLife Extension administrator at San Angelo.
“We are very excited to have Jacque officially join our AgriLife Extension family here in the West Central District,” Durham said. “She’s already well-known to many of us, because she has been very active in the county and district as a volunteer leader since the early 1980s. She knows our programs and the people of this area, so we feel she will be the perfect addition to the already strong McCulloch County AgriLife Extension program.”
Behrens earned a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences education from Texas Tech University at Lubbock and holds occupational certification and elementary education certification from Texas State University, San Marcos and Angelo State University, San Angelo. She also holds ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification from the National Restaurant Association.
Behrens has taught ServSafe certification training, basic food preparation and menu planning at Brady as a dual credit food services professor with Central Texas College of Killeen since 1998. Prior to that, she was a family and consumer science teacher at Brady High School.
Her awards and honors include: Brady High School Year Book Dedication, Texas 4-H Salute to Texas Excellence Award, Region II Outstanding Teacher of the Year and 4-H McCulloch County Volunteer of the Year.
