University of Bath celebrates Fairtrade Fortnight the Mad Hatter way
The University of Bath is celebrating their second year of Fairtrade status and Fairtrade Fortnight (22 February â€" 8 March) by hosting a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on campus.
(Media-Newswire.com) - The University of Bath is celebrating their second year of Fairtrade status and Fairtrade Fortnight ( 22 February – 8 March ) by hosting a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on campus.
The fortnight’s celebrations begin on Monday 22 February, where free Fairtrade tea will be provided at the Mad Hatter’s Party as well as a selection of other Fairtrade goodies on sale.
Students and staff are also invited to a question & answer lecture on Monday with Isabel Antonio, a producer of nuts from Mozambique, who will talk about her work and how the UK buying Fairtrade products has impacted her and her family and friends.
The University’s Student Union is also helping out with the events when they ‘Go Banana’s’ handing out free bananas, the Union’s juggling society, Gravity Vomit, will also be swapping their usual juggling fruit for Fairtrade fruit.
Fairtrade film evenings including Blood Diamond ( Wednesday 24 February ) Latin American Society tea dance which includes tea and cake ( Wednesday 24 February ) Fairtrade food tasting with campus chef, Mike James ( Thursday 25 February ) Fairtrade debates ( Friday 26 February ) The University was awarded Fairtrade status in 2009 after achieving five Fairtrade goals, including a commitment to campaign for the cause this is something the University has continued to do. All meetings and events hosted by the University are now catered for with Fairtrade products.

“The fortnight is about making as much noise as possible and making people aware of how much they can help.â€
