According to news about the recall, the power steering assist potentially could fail making driving difficult and potentially dangerous.
The problem has been diagnosed and confirmed but no fix has been made at the moment. GM continues to provide a solution at this time to the power steering recall.
The recall models include 2005-10 Chevy Cobalts and 2007-10 Pontiac G5 models made for the USA. Outside of the USA, 2005-6 Pontiac Pursuits are recalled for Canada and 2005-6 Pontiac G4 models in Mexico.
