The Frostburg State University Guitar Ensemble will hold its annual recital on Tuesday, May 4, at 9 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. This event is free and open to the public.
(Media-Newswire.com) - The Frostburg State University Guitar Ensemble will hold its annual recital on Tuesday, May 4, at 9 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. This event is free and open to the public. The program will include the music of Bach and Boccherini, guitarist/composers Mauro Giuliani, Agustin Barrios, Fancisco Tarrega, Leo Brouwer and Andrew York, as well as an arrangement of Antonio Carlos Jobim. Performances will be solo and duo, and the full ensemble will join together for the finale.
The concert will feature a solo performance by the director, Stephen Tunstall, of Mauro Giuliani's “Grand Overture.” Members of the guitar studio will present the following solo works: Zach Dodge performing “Corcovado” by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Brandon Arnold performing “Two Renaissance Lute Works,” John Mason performing “Etude No.6” by Leo Brouwer and “Lagrima” by Francisco Tarrega, Jeff Pomerantz performing “Julia Florida” by Agustin Barrios and Austin Litz performing “Sunburst” by Andrew York. The duo pieces being presented are “Invention No. 8” by J.S. Bach, performed by Matt Fleming and Jeff Pomerantz; and “Intermezzo” by Manuel Ponce, performed by Austin Litz and Zach Dodge. The finale by the Guitar Ensemble will be “Introduction and Fandango” by Luigi Boccherini.
