(Media-Newswire.com) - The Iron Man 2 sequel is set to be released on May 7 in the U.S. with high expectations of a blockbuster gate. The Iron Man 2 showtimes are expected to be mostly sold out with the popularity of the first movie which starred Robert Downey Jr. as the lead character.
The budget for the Iron Man 2 movie was rumored to exceed $200 million but with strong sales at showtimes the figure should be regained easily along with DVD sales later when the movie is released for home viewing.
New to the Iron Man 2 movie is the co-star Mickey Rourke who plays the nemesis Whiplash. Also added to the cast is Scarlett Johannson who plays Natalie Rushman known as the Black Widow.
One controversy in this sequel was the replacement of Terrence Howard in the James "Rhodey" Rhodes character by actor Don Cheadle. Various reports indicate a problem between the director jon Favreau and Howard but this has not been confirmed.
While the opening in the USA is set for May 7, 2010, the movie has already opened overseas. Openings in France on April 28, 2010, Australia on April 29 2010, and Mexico on May 1, 2010 have drawn outstanding reviews for this Iron Man 2 sequel.
