(Media-Newswire.com) - The former student of Harvard who devised a shocking web of lies known as the Harvard Hoax was arraigned on twenty counts of identity theft and fraud due to the reportedly massive falsehood relating to scholarships, essays and schools attended.
Wheeler was arrested and faced a hearing on twenty counts of fraud and identity theft after claiming attendance at many top Ivy League schools including MIT and Harvard. Wheeler is also accused of taking student aid and prizes for awards.
The resume also claimed a perfect 4.0 average at the famed Harvard college.
Wheeler was accused of plagarism related to essays he had submitted. Also forged reportedly were recommendation letters, transcripts and other works. The charges claim Wheeler purposely defrauded the Harvard college of almost $50,000.
Wheeler faces up to five years in prison on each of the felony counts.
