(Media-Newswire.com) - HEALDSBURG, Calif. — Celebrities Keely and Pierce Brosnan and Loretta Swit are coming to the Alexander Valley on June 5 to celebrate animals and confront cruelty with The Humane Society of the United States, while enjoying a gourmet dinner at the majestic Jordan Vineyard & Winery.
Located in the heart of gorgeous Sonoma County wine country, the Jordan Vineyard & Winery will be rolling out the red carpet and raising a tent under the stars to host this exclusive event. Benefitting The HSUS' "Making History!" campaigns, the evening will feature a wine reception highlighting the winery's world class Cabernet Sauvignons and Chardonnays, as well as live music and a silent auction.
The silent auction promises to be an event highlight, featuring vacation getaway packages to leisure and adventure destinations, fine art, and fashion items for humans and dogs alike. Dog-friendly auction items include a "Canine Spa Day" at The Club Beverly Hills.
Joining the Brosnans and Ms. Swit will be special honoree Kathy Freston, health and wellness expert and a New York Times best-selling author, and Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of The HSUS. As head of the nation's largest animal protection organization, with more than 1.3 million supporters in the Golden State alone, Pacelle will provide attendees the latest information on The HSUS' "Making History!" campaigns, including the legislative battles at the federal and state level to influence standards of care for dogs and puppies in puppy mills, and to establish more humane practices for millions of animals raised for food.
"The Humane Society of the United States deeply appreciates the efforts of the Jordan family to host this wonderful event," said Wayne Pacelle. "The presence of celebrities like Keely and Pierce Brosnan and Loretta Swit, well known in Hollywood for their love of and concern for animals, will just add to the special nature of this occasion benefiting our Making History campaigns."
John Jordan, second-generation vintner and proprietor of Jordan Vineyard & Winery, rescued his dog Bismarck from a local shelter and has graciously donated his facilities, culinary and hospitality staff, and all wine, food and beverage for the fundraising event. "The goal of our philanthropic efforts is always to try to do good for the most vulnerable of the world's citizens whether they have two legs or four," Jordan said. "We have a responsibility to try to make the world a better place, and we like to utilize our culinary staff and our beautiful facilities in furtherance of that goal."
Honorary chair of this year's event is Sally Jordan, John's mother and winery co-founder, who along with Tom Jordan created a wine estate where three-quarters of its 1,500 acres are dedicated to natural habitat for wildlife. "We all support our local rescues, but only The Humane Society of the United States can effectively stand up to cruelty on a massive scale and come to the rescue of animals in times of national catastrophes."
