Rescue crews battled rugged terrain and weather conditions to try and reach the wreckage. The area that rescue crews are responding to is just north of the Alaskan city of Dillingham. Media reports indicate that there are as many as nine passengers who were on the plane at the time of the crash on Monday.
Stevens was a long time senator from Alaska who was found guilty of failing to report gifts he received while in the position.
