(Media-Newswire.com) - Concord, NH-The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services ( DHHS ) is pleased to announce the New Hampshire Suicide Prevention Conference, scheduled for Friday, November 5, 2010 at Loon Mountain Club in Lincoln. This annual conference is the largest suicide prevention gathering in New Hampshire and will bring together a diverse mix of health care providers, survivors of suicide loss, educators, policy-makers, parents, law enforcement and first responders, media professionals and the veteran community.
Dr. Phil Rogers, a nationally recognized evaluation scientist with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will be presenting on Evidence-Based Practices, as well as presenting on the relationship between risk factors, protective factors and suicide. New Faces of America, a nationally acclaimed theatre ensemble will provide a one-person presentation that challenges stereotypes based on race, ethnicity, gender, ability, and sexual orientation. The theme for this year's conference is: Strategies for Safety and Resilience and the conference will include several workshops that address these issues.
This year's conference is open to the general public and extends a special invitation to the military community. The Mobile Vet Center, National Guard and the VA Medical Center will all be in attendance. There is still time to register for this important event. The cost for this year's conference is $75.
