(Media-Newswire.com) - WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Banca Civica have entered into an agreement to allow the Spanish bank’s customers to help the Museum’s efforts to rescue the evidence of the Holocaust.
“The Museum is working in more than 50 countries to rescue the evidence of the Holocaust before the eyewitness generation disappears,” says United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Director, Sara J. Bloomfield. “This collection - photographs; artifacts; films; archival documentation; testimonies from Holocaust survivors, perpetrators, and eyewitnesses; and more - will serve as a primary resource for all future generations of researchers, educators, and students studying this history. We thank Banca Civica for providing the opportunity for its customers to help make this historic initiative possible.”
Banca Civica is a bank in Spain that has developed a civic banking program in which the bank discloses its earnings to its customers who then determine to distribute 30 percent of the bank’s profits to a variety of non-profit organizations. This unique business model is designed for both commercial and social benefit and to provide for constructive relationships among community, customers, social entities, and the bank. Banca Civica customers can choose to support the Museum by visiting the bank’s site.
A living memorial to the Holocaust, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum inspires citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity. Federal support guarantees the Museum’s permanent place on the National Mall, and its far-reaching educational programs and global impact are made possible by generous donors.
