(Media-Newswire.com) - WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 56th edition of the Purdue Newsreel, a video collection of university highlights from 2010, is now available.
The 12-minute program, produced by the Creative Services unit of the Office of Marketing and Media, can be viewed on the Web or is available from the Purdue Undergraduate Library. The video also can be purchased from the Purdue Alumni Association.
The video, "A Nobel Endeavor," is sponsored by the Alumni Association. It is shown to Purdue alumni clubs around the world.
The 2010 newsreel is narrated by 1978 Purdue graduate John Sautter, special assistant to the Alumni Association's executive director. The program was produced and directed by Ray Cubberley, senior broadcast producer in marketing and media.

Highlights in the 2010 video include: the Nobel Prize in chemistry going to professor Ei-ichi Negishi; mechanical engineering professor Steven Wereley talking about the BP oil spill; Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger receiving the Armstrong Medal of Excellence; the awarding of the annual Special Boilermaker Award; Drew Brees being named AP Male Athlete of the Year and Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year; the women's golf team capturing the NCAA national championship; the volleyball team advancing to the NCAA elite eight; the women's basketball team winning the preseason WNIT; the men's basketball team advancing to the NCAA sweet 16; football team defensive end Ryan Kerrigan being named first-team All-American.
Other events in the video include: the Latin & Ballroom Dance Team competing on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars"; Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs" coming to campus; Purdue Day at the Indiana State Fair; a Purdue booth and the Black Alumni Organization at the Indiana Black Expo; the memorial service for Purdue's eighth president, Arthur Hansen; dedication of the new crew boathouse; the first-ever electric vehicle ( EV ) grand prix; the traditional grand prix kart race; a Porsche converted to electric power by two students; the "All-American" Marching Band performing in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade; singing by the Glee Club; and several alumni events, including the alumni club leaders conference, outstanding young alumni award winners, a Purdue Alumni Student Experience networking event, the Class of 1960 reunion, Homecoming, the alumni championship golf outing, the alumni tailgate at Notre Dame, the alumni pep rally for the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis and comments from Alumni Association executive director and CEO Kirk Cerny.
