(Media-Newswire.com) - Number four seed Louisville lost their second round basketball match to Morehead State today as the 2011 NCAA Tournament men's college basketball event got underway with 16 games on the schedule.
The Louisville Cardinals basketball squad had been predicted to be one of several contenders to reach the final four competition in April and have a chance to win the national championship. But a huge last second three point shot by Demonte Harper crushed those dreams for the team and fans. Harper put the shot in as time counted down with just four seconds left in the game thereby eliminating the team from the event in their first game for the second straight year.
Terrance Hill led the team in scoring with 23 points and eight rebounds for the win. Big man Kenneth Faried saved the game for Moorehead State with a huge last second blocked shot taken by the Cardinals before the buzzer sounded.
The winner of the Vanderbilt vs. Richmond game will next play the Morehead State team.
