OAS Secretary General Meets with President of Uruguay
The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today in Montevideo with the President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, José Mujica.
(Media-Newswire.com) - The Secretary General of the Organization of American States ( OAS ), José Miguel Insulza, met today in Montevideo with the President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, José Mujica.
At the meeting, Secretary General Insulza and President Mujica talked about current political affairs in the region, and in particular in the South American country. The head of the OAS also met with the Uruguayan Minister of Foreign Relations, Luis Almagro.
The representative of the hemispheric organization signed with the President of Uruguay's Electoral Court, Ronald Herbert, a Cooperation Agreement so the two institutions may tighten their collaboration on joint projects and exchange of personnel and experiences, among other aspects.
The OAS has already previously signed similar agreements with electoral authorities in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and the United States, among others.
