(Media-Newswire.com) - Eastern Michigan University Professor Emeritus Eleanor Wright will be inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Public Relations Society of America's Detroit Chapter at the group's annual meeting on Nov. 3, 2011.
The award is the chapter's highest honor for lifetime achievement in public relations and represents significant contributions to the profession and community.
"For me, the greatest reward in program development and teaching has always been and always will be seeing the students succeed in the communication professions," said Wright. "The best reward is having the people you've taught succeed."
Wright joined Eastern in 1979 as a journalism instructor and within three years she was an associate professor. By 1983, Wright had created both a public relations and a written communications program at Eastern. She helped bring the internship requirement to the program as well as developed numerous key courses for the public relations program.
Wright retired from Eastern in 1993. In 1997, Eastern honored Wright by naming its newly founded chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America after her. Wright currently lives in St. Louis, Mo., but stays involved in the EMU PR program by communicating regularly with faculty and students.
The PRSA-Detroit Annual Meeting will be held at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial at 6 p.m. on Nov. 3. The Detroit Chapter of PRSA was established in 1947 and is now the premier organization for Southeast Michigan public relations professionals.
